As our '97 trek up the Ho River wound to a close, the conversation inevitably turned to the subject of food. Colin suggested we build our own Phonetic Alphabet which is the geeky term for the sequence which begins "Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta..."
Of course our alphabet was built exclusively out of the best food we could think of which started with the particular letter. There was much debate about many of these--where we'd argue about whether Mashed Potatoes or Manacotti should be our M word. Here's what we came up with...

A. Apple Pie
B. Beer (all our favorite kinds, which freed up G-Guiness)
C. Chocolate Chip Cookies (bonus for alliterative use of the letter C)
D. Donuts
E. Eclair
F. Food (lots of debate about the fairness of this, but it made us laugh)
G. Gelato
H. Hamburger
I. Ice Cream
J. Jambalaya
K.
L. Lasagne
M. Mashed Potatoes
N.
O.
P. Pizza
Q. Quiche
R. Ravioli
S. Salmon
T. Turkey
U. Upside-down cake
V. Vino
W. Watermelon (what large meal is complete without it? Besides it's really heavy)
X. eXtra helping of mashed potatoes (gee, wonder who suggested
this)
